To achieve the world record, Wilde had to keep his forearms and toes on the ground the entire time while keeping the rest of his body straight and lifted off the ground.

Wilde told Guinness World Records that she normally spends up to three hours planking every day, but that she had actually increased her plan to six hours in two three-hour blocks before the record day. .

“I was really worried about my form being bad, and I think that’s what caused my quadriceps injury, because I was really nervous,” she added.

“It’s like a dream.”

Wilde said the first two hours went by fairly quickly, but the second half was much more difficult.

Wilde’s husband, Randy Wilde, said his wife of 40 years also suffers from chronic pain in her hands and arms. But that didn’t stop her from taking home her award.

Wilde’s son, Ray Wilde, a teacher at the school where the record attempt took place, told Guinness World Records that his mother had always been athletic.

“When we woke up, my mom had already run four miles, and that’s progressing over the years. She’s always been very active and healthy,” he said.

Ray Wilde and other teachers regularly brought students during classes last month to watch Donna Jean Wilde attempt a world record.

The plank holder added that he spent the last 30 minutes breathing and trying to calm down, which allowed him to beat his previous record of 4 hours and 19 minutes, set in 2019.

“I actually still can’t believe it,” Wilde said. “It’s like a dream.”
