Greed, Selfishness, Hatred Is ‘at the Heart of Trumpism’

Princeton University professor Eddie Glaude Jr. argued Monday on MSNBC's “Deadline” that voters are motivated by greed, selfishness and hate to support President-elect Donald Trump.

“This is an important point that needs to be told a little bit of truth about the modern Republican Party,” Glaude said. “There have always been at least three elements: corporatists, libertarians, and nativists. Right. This. That's a really important point, right? I mean there's always been those three elements, and Ronald Reagan was able to balance them in an interesting way.”

He continued: There's right-wing populism, which is like greed, pulling, promoting his interests, and it's sometimes expressed in terms that emphasize American workers, but it takes a form of xenophobia, it takes a form of xenophobia. A form of hatred. ”

Glaude continued: “So we have a collision of greed and hatred before us, and that's the core of Trumpism, of Trumpism. It's always greed, it's always selfish, it's always hate. , and now it is completely clear.”

“What's interesting about Bannon is that he conveys this deep ugliness of who should be at the center of our imagination, who should care,” he concluded. We don't need 5 million Indians to come to this country, right? So it continues. ”
