Green Bay Packers running back taken into custody for domestic disturbances

A running back for the Green Bay Packers has been arrested on multiple charges, including a felony, in connection with a domestic violence incident.

Police in Hobart, Wisconsin, received a disturbance call involving Packers player Josh Jacobs, who has been a three-time Pro Bowl participant.

Officers arrived shortly after 8:30 a.m. to investigate the situation. Subsequently, Jacobs was arrested and booked into the Brown County Jail. The charges against him include assault, disorderly conduct, and criminal damage to property—all categorized as “domestic abuse.”

Additionally, he faces charges related to victim intimidation and two disturbing felony counts regarding “strangulation and suffocation.”

According to jail records, Jacobs has been charged with one felony and four misdemeanors related to assault, with bail set at $1,350.

Interestingly, jail records noted a “mandatory appearance” but did not mention any bond being posted.

Michael Lenkus, the Hobart-Lawrence Police Chief, stated in a press release that the investigation is ongoing.

Jacobs’ attorneys, David Chesnoff and Richard Schoenfeld, issued a statement asserting that their client “vehemently denies the charges.” They emphasized that this is just the early phase of the investigation, and important evidence is still pending.

They called for “fairness and restraint” as the legal process unfolds.

The Packers issued a statement to NFL reporter Tom Pelissero acknowledging their awareness of the situation but indicated that they would refrain from further comments due to the ongoing legal issues.

On Wednesday, the team canceled scheduled media interviews for players following an open practice, though Coach Matt LaFleur continued with his planned press conferences, as reported by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

It’s worth mentioning that NFL teams are required to make their head coaches and players available to the press at least once every three days during training camp activities.

Jacobs has had a successful career, surpassing 1,000 rushing yards in four of his first seven seasons and achieving 929 rushing yards in 2025. Notably, he led the league in rushing yards in 2022 with 1,653 and was named a first-team All-Pro that season.
