Greene County Tax Updates Announced
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Greene County Collector Allen Isett shared that taxpayers can now access and pay their personal property and real estate tax statements online for 2025.
In a related update, the Senior Citizen Tax Credit program has undergone some changes. Property owners won’t need to complete renewal forms every year anymore, unless there’s a shift in ownership.
It’s important to note that the payment deadline is December 31st. Isett highlighted potential consequences for those who fail to pay their property taxes, stating, “I’m not selling the property itself, but what I’m doing is selling the property and the tax lien against the property owner. If they don’t take action, they could lose their property.”
Payment Options and Consequences
Taxpayers who neglect to pay their personal property taxes will receive a notification from the Collector’s Office. If they don’t respond within 30 days, the Department of Revenue may be contacted, which could lead to the revocation of their driver’s license.
Moreover, failure to pay by the end of December 31st will result in penalties and interest.
Tax statements can be accessed online at www.CountyCollector.com. Here are the available payment methods:
- Online: www.CountyCollector.com
- By bank check postmarked on or before December 31, 2025 to prevent penalties
- In person in Room 109 of the Greene County Historical Courthouse
- By phone: 888-523-0054
Taxpayers can find their unique taxpayer ID number and PIN by clicking the “Statements and Receipts” button on the website or on their mailed statement.
Updates on Senior Tax Credits
The Collector’s Office has also made revisions to the Senior Citizen Tax Credit Program, which offers property tax credits to qualifying senior homeowners. The key change is that annual renewals are no longer required.
Once seniors are approved, they won’t need to fill out forms each year unless their ownership or occupancy status changes.
If any changes do take place, participants must complete a self-reporting form found on the Collector’s website. If eligibility cannot be verified, an audit request form will be sent, which recipients must return within 45 days, possibly needing to provide documentation.
The period for first-time applications runs annually from January 2nd to June 30th.
Payment Details and Fees
When paying online, there’s no fee for e-Checks, though using credit and debit cards incurs a 2% and 1.5% fee, respectively.
Payment by phone will also carry a 2% fee for card transactions, and this method can only be used if all taxes have been settled.
It’s crucial to remember that all personal property and real estate taxes are due by midnight on December 31, 2025. Late payments will incur a 9% penalty along with 2% interest.
Isett anticipates that mailed tax statements will reach households by mid-November, urging taxpayers to reach out via email if they haven’t received their statement by Thanksgiving.
The Greene County Collector’s Office is situated in Room 109 of the historic courthouse at 940 N. Boonville Ave. in Springfield. Direct payments can be made until 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 31, 2025.
