Marjorie Taylor Greene Responds to Trump’s “Traitor” Label

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia addressed comments made by former President Donald Trump over the weekend, where he referred to her as a “traitor.” She called the remark “hurtful” and expressed concerns that such statements could impact her safety.

“What he said is deeply misleading,” Greene told CNN’s Dana Bash on “State of the Union.” She continued, noting, “Words like that can encourage people to turn against me and put my life at risk.”

Trump made his announcement on Truth Social last Friday, stating he was withdrawing his support for Greene, labeling her an “abusing lunatic” and accusing her of not recognizing his administration’s achievements.

Greene has been a strong supporter of Trump, notably during challenging periods of his presidency, including facing multiple impeachments. She has campaigned alongside him across several Republican-leaning states.

She maintained that she never actually called the president and shared screenshots of text messages to clarify her situation. Greene suggested her mentions of certain Epstein-related files may have “apparently … upset him.”

In expressing her emotions, she mentioned to Bash, “This is really about those Epstein files.” Greene emphasized her commitment to survivors of abuse and her demand for transparency regarding those cases, insisting that no one, regardless of their wealth or power, should be shielded from accountability.

While Greene still supports Trump and aims to help him fulfill his promises, she conveyed that his remarks were painful. She believes it’s crucial to move past contentious politics.

When approached for a comment, White House press secretary Abigail Jackson released a statement defending Trump, arguing that transparency regarding Epstein and his victims has been lacking among Democrats and some media, labeling attempts to divert attention from Trump’s successes as distractions.
