Greene: Economy played a major role in Tuesday's elections

Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) stated that the recent losses in the Republican elections indicate that voters are unhappy with the economy, as suggested by exit polls.

“I give the president credit for keeping inflation around 2.5%, but people in my district are really suffering,” Greene mentioned in an interview released on Wednesday. “Rent and housing prices keep escalating. Food prices are also on the rise.”

“It all comes down to the cost of living, and I’ve been discussing this for months. The economy is vital, and I believe it played a crucial role in the election,” she added.

Greene’s remarks contribute to the ongoing criticism directed at party leadership, which has faced backlash for not adequately addressing issues like the government shutdown and increasing healthcare costs.

She connects Republican defeats in Virginia, New Jersey, and New York to affordability policies from the Trump administration.

“Watching foreign leaders come in and out of the White House isn’t helping Americans,” Greene told NBC News.

“There’s no focus on reducing cost of living, nor is there a plan to tackle health insurance premiums or address the pressing issues affecting vulnerable groups, particularly young people,” she continued.

Vice President Vance recognized the nation’s economic challenges but urged the party to keep an even keel despite the recent electoral outcomes.

“While the president has made progress by lowering interest rates and inflation, we took over a situation left by Joe Biden that was quite troublesome. Rome wasn’t built in a day. We’ll keep working to ensure a decent life for people in this country, and that will ultimately be the measure of our success in 2026 and beyond,” he stated in an online post.

“Internal disagreements are unwise. I’m focused on making sure my fellow Americans, especially the younger generation, have a good quality of life. I care about immigration and sovereignty, and I prioritize establishing peace globally so we can concentrate our resources at home,” he said.
