Texas Elections: Stakes Are High as Democrats Gaining Momentum
Texas stands at a significant point, and with the Democrats making notable gains heading into the election, Governor Greg Abbott (R) emphasizes that the stakes have never been higher.
Glenn Beck, co-founder of Blaze Media, is acutely aware of this situation. He points out, “We now have CAIR Action, which is connected to a terrorist organization, endorsing your opponent for governor.”
Abbott agrees, stating, “That’s an endorsement I wouldn’t want.” He goes on to highlight the stark differences between him and his opponent, Gina Hinojosa.
Abbott elaborates, “What many people don’t realize is that my opponent is significantly more radical than Talarico. She was the most left-leaning Democrat in the Texas House of Representatives, and her views on CAIR and Sharia law are just a couple of examples.”
In contrast to Hinojosa’s stance, Abbott signed a law to prohibit Sharia compounds in Texas while asserting that Hinojosa supports its implementation within the state.
“What voters must understand in Texas is that this election serves as a referendum. Are we set to continue banning Sharia law, which we intend to do next session if I remain governor?” Abbott questions. “Or are we going to permit its expansion in Texas, which would likely occur if Hinojosa is elected?”
However, concerns go beyond Sharia law.
“I worry that Texas, which has always been a front-runner in innovation and energy, could suffer if left-leaning policies take hold. We could be one of the strongest sectors globally if not for the U.S.,” Beck states, expressing concern over the energy industry and technological capture, particularly regarding data centers and figures like Elon Musk, who is reshaping space travel in Texas.
Abbott acknowledges Beck’s fears as valid. He reflects on Hurricane Harvey in 2017, indicating that during that crisis, Hinojosa proposed a “Texas Green New Deal,” which involved new taxes and regulations on the oil and gas industries.
This, according to Abbott, would have catastrophic effects, sending thousands of Texans to unemployment and decimating the oil and gas sector. “Texas could end up mirroring California if Hinojosa’s radical energy policies prevail, resulting in soaring gas prices,” he warns.
“Such a situation would be devastating for both Texas and the nation as a whole,” he adds.
