Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) on Tuesday accused the Biden administration of pushing a false narrative about the border crisis.
On “CNN This Morning,” CNN anchor Audie Cornish spoke to White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre about Democratic leaders, specifically New York Mayor Eric Adams (D) and Chicago Mayor Brandon. He asked Mr. Johnson (Democratic Party) to respond. The Biden administration's response to the border crisis that has sparked an immigration crisis in these cities.
But instead of responding to his fellow Democrats, Jean-Pierre attacked Governor Abbott.
“Here's my answer: It's shameful that a Republican governor, Governor Abbott of Texas, is using immigration as a political stunt,” she said. “It's a shame to transport immigrants on buses or put them on planes.”
But is it a “political stunt” as Jean-Pierre claims?
After all, New York and Chicago are sanctuary cities that pride themselves on protections for immigrants. Additionally, the federal government transports immigrants from border processing plants to rural areas across the country. If it's shameful for Texas to do it, why isn't it shameful for the federal government to do it?
Perhaps the Biden administration is simply angry that its handling of the Texas border crisis has exposed President Joe Biden's ineptitude. Mr. Abbott, in response to Mr. Jean-Pierre, said the administration was trying to pull the wool over the eyes of the American people with this revelation.
The governor responded, “KJP and Biden think Americans are stupid.” “I've spoken directly to Biden about what needs to be done. They're ignoring policy changes and denying the border is open because they really want illegal immigration in Texas. continues to erect barriers and deny bus transportation to illegal immigrants and immigrants.”
abbot explained“To date, Texas has transported more than 95,000 migrants to sanctuary cities. Sanctuary cities like New York City and Chicago have been able to overcome the overwhelming situation that Texas' border towns face every day. We've only seen a small part of the story. We will continue our transportation mission until Biden reverses course on his open borders policy.”
Not only is Texas sending migrants to sanctuary cities, but the Lone Star State is also taking aggressive steps to deter illegal border crossings, including building land and water barriers.
