Harvest Crusade to be Held at University of Utah
This week, Pastor Greg Laurie and his team are hosting a significant one-night evangelism event at the University of Utah, a site marked by tragedy following the assassination of Charlie Kirk last November. The hope is to draw thousands who may come to faith in Christ.
Laurie, who leads the Harvest Christian Fellowship in California, mentioned that they had postponed a scheduled evangelism event for 2027 in Salt Lake City after the shocking murder of Kirk at Utah Valley University. It seemed right to prioritize the event now.
After Kirk’s death, discussions within the harvest team led to the conclusion that Utah needs the gospel more than ever. Laurie recalled being told, “Yes, I’ll come and do the Crusades sooner. We need help. We need hope here in Utah.”
The Harvest Crusades will occur on November 16th at Utah Valley University. Laurie expressed the intention to shine a light on campus during this poignant time, stating, “We want to go to that campus and turn on the shining light, the light of Jesus Christ, the message of the gospel, the same message that Charlie Kirk believed in. We want to tell people that there is hope in Christ.”
The event will be broadcast globally. Laurie referenced Ephesians 3:20, highlighting the belief that God can do beyond our expectations. He called for prayers leading up to the crusade, which he hopes will be a significant movement of the Holy Spirit, drawing many to faith in Jesus Christ.
This is not the first time a Harvest Crusade has taken place; in July, around 45,000 attendees gathered at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, listening to messages by Laurie and various Christian music artists. The impact was profound, with approximately 6,500 individuals participating in the faith experience, both in person and online, and the field was even closed off due to the large crowds.
