Gregory Bovino conveys a powerful message to immigration officers at Mount Rushmore: 'I am behind you, and I honor you'

Support for Federal Immigration Agents

Border Patrol Chief Gregory Bovino shared a video message expressing his backing for federal immigration agents after departing Minneapolis with some of them, following a recent shooting incident.

In response to escalating unrest after the shooting of Alex Preti by federal agents on Saturday, President Donald Trump dispatched border czar Tom Homan to Minnesota.

Bovino emphasized his unwavering support, stating, “Now and always, I support you. I love you, I support you, and I salute you.”

Recognized by immigration advocates for his “turn and burn” approach, Bovino voiced his admiration for his team’s efforts. In a social media clip, he pointed out historical figures like George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, remarking, “That’s the original turn and burn, the people who helped shape America.”

“I’m incredibly proud of what you environmental machines are accomplishing right now in Minneapolis, just as you’ve been doing throughout the country over these past nine months,” he noted. “You are the modern equivalent of Turn and Burn. That makes me very proud,” he added, reaffirming, “I love you, support you, and salute you now and always.”

Bovino, alongside his agents, coined the term “turn and burn” to describe mass deportations.

Upon Homan’s arrival, he engaged with Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, both Democrats, who voiced their intention to shut down all federal immigration offices within the state.

Homan addressed reporters in Minneapolis, discussing safety improvements in immigration enforcement. “I’m here because the federal government executed its mission perfectly. When I came in, I made it clear that I wasn’t here for photo ops or headlines. I’m seeking solutions,” he remarked.

“I understand that not everything done here was flawless,” he acknowledged. “Nothing is perfect; there’s always room for improvement, and we’re focused on enhancing safety and efficiency. This mission will get better.”
