Police said on Monday that unidentified people threw a grenade at a military conscription office in the western Ukrainian town of Busk overnight, causing an explosion but injuring no one.
Police said in a statement they were investigating the incident, which comes more than 28 months after the Russian invasion and comes as Ukraine steps up efforts to conscript civilians into its army.

Police in the western Lviv region said the explosion damaged the facade and windows of the conscription office and that the attacker threw a grenade before fleeing.

During the war, many men fled Ukraine to avoid military service, and in recent months Ukrainian media have reported incidents of violence against conscription offices and officers.
Asked if it had concerns, the Ukrainian military told Reuters that maintaining public confidence was “a key element of our work, without which it would be extremely difficult to defeat the enemy.”
