A watchdog group is reportedly calling on Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore to eliminate its diversity, equity, and inclusion program. It comes a week after the program's leaders declared that white people, Christians and men are all “privileged” and are creating a “toxic culture.” .
After the post went viral, Dr. Sherita H. Golden, the school's chief diversity officer, issued a statement retracting the message, insisting she never intended to hurt anyone.
The New York Post reported that the watchdog group Do No Harm called Golden's apology “empty” and called for the DEI department to be eliminated.
“Johns Hopkins University needs to completely eliminate its DEI department and redirect its resources to the primary purpose of training the next generation of medical professionals who can provide the highest quality care to all patients.” Christina Rasmussen, executive director of No Harm, told the Post. “They have created a toxic culture rooted in a DEI ideology that demonizes and indoctrinates the very students they are tasked with training to become the next generation of medical professionals.”
