China-Based Billionaire’s Campaign Targets Jewish Voters

Nie, a billionaire based in China, is reportedly receiving backing from left-wing protest groups in the U.S. A new initiative called the “Jews for Jews” Mamdani Campaign aims to win over Jewish voters, shielding candidates from accusations of anti-Semitism as they criticize Israel.

Alicia Singham Goodwin, the political director for a left-leaning nonprofit named Jews for Racial and Economic Justice, has been instrumental in this effort. Her work includes launching another initiative, Jews for Zoran, which initiated as early as January.

In a recent interview, Singham Goodwin shared insights about their targeted outreach efforts, emphasizing how their voter files include only Jewish voters, communicating with them in a culturally resonance way. It’s interesting—there’s something about that approach that feels both strategic and personal.

The movement is collaborating with prominent figures like City Comptroller Brad Lander and Representative Jerry Nadler, aiming to enlist more support from other Jewish politicians, including Senators Chuck Schumer and Dan Goldman, for Mamdani’s mayoral run.

Former Queens City Council member Rory Rankman raised concerns over what he called a “terrifying” strategy, particularly in light of Mamdani’s past endorsement of the “Intifada globalization” slogan.

“Demonizing Israel has a trickle-down effect, leading to the demonization of Jews who stand by Israel. It’s troubling,” Rankman noted, articulating how such narratives can erode support within the Jewish community. He pointed out that many American Jews predominantly support Israel, and the idea that elected officials might normalize this demonization is unnerving.

Singham Goodwin’s family background is noteworthy as well. Her mother’s connections and her father, Daniel Goodwin, who was a lawyer and an executive at a tech company, reveal intriguing layers; they’ve even contributed financially to Mamdani’s campaign from their upscale residence.

Interestingly, Singham Goodwin is linked to the Democratic Socialists of America, and her social media presence often showcases personal interactions, including family ties and friendships with prominent activists involved in leftist causes. One can’t help but feel a mix of admiration and wariness towards such an intertwining of personal and political agendas.

Since transitioning from Thinking Works, sold for a hefty sum of $785 million, Neville Roy Singham has been establishing himself in Shanghai and other ventures to promote Beijing’s interests. It’s a fascinating, albeit controversial, backdrop, especially as House Republicans dig into potential ties to recent protests against immigration enforcement in Los Angeles.

As of now, neither Singham has responded to inquiries for comment, leaving many questions lingering in the air.
