Teenagers Assault and Rob Man at Maryland Mall
Recent reports from police detail an incident in which a group of teenagers assaulted and robbed an adult male at a Maryland shopping mall. This occurrence takes place just weeks after a similar event at the same location.
On March 16, the Montgomery County Police Department revealed that nine suspects had followed a male victim into Wheaton Mall, situated on Veres Mill Road.
At roughly 11:30 a.m., one of the suspects struck the victim in the head from behind, as captured in video footage. The group then physically assaulted the man while he sat on the ground, stealing his shoes before fleeing the scene.
Authorities mentioned that the group consisted of three Hispanic females, five Hispanic males, and one Black male, all described as wearing black sleeves and tan pants.
Detectives are urging anyone with information regarding the suspects to come forward and contact Crime Solvers for assistance.
Earlier, in February, another incident unfolded in the same mall. A male victim was attacked while using the restroom by seven assailants armed with knives, resulting in non-life-threatening injuries.
Comments from the public reflect growing frustration and concern over safety in malls. One individual remarked, “This is why carry permits are on the rise. It’s only a matter of time before these individuals encounter the wrong person.” Another echoed sentiments about potential consequences and accountability for the suspects involved.
The police continue to search for five unidentified Hispanic juvenile males and two unidentified Black juvenile males linked to the previous attack. Both incidents highlight a troubling trend that has many residents on edge.
