Ongoing investigations of a ranch located just south of the Texas-Mexico border have uncovered six human torsos. The dismembered remains were dug up in what officials suspect is yet another killing ground utilized by the Gulf Cartel.
The discoveries occurred over the weekend, as members of the search teams Lazos Unidos Por Encontrarlos (United to Find Them) and Buscando Tus Pasos (Searching for Your Steps) scoured a property known as Ranch La Rosita on the southeastern side of Reynosa.
“The border area is a common location for those who are missing,” stated Elvira Ramirez, a representative for Buscando Tus Pasos.
The team responded to a plea from a woman seeking her missing relatives, which led them to a rough location where they thought a body might be. Once they arrived at vacant sites and initiated their search, they quickly sensed an odor that was all too familiar to them.
“I sensed something was there,” said Ramirez. They recorded the site for law enforcement. Authorities confirmed it was a shallow graveyard containing numerous dismembered remains. “We persisted in our search and uncovered some charred fragments.”
The search group, in conjunction with the Tamaulipas State Attorney General’s office, submitted their findings to law authorities.
“They are discovering more dismembered remains,” declared Ramirez. “They also found implements. We suspect they conducted actions on the bodies in that location.”
To date, law enforcement has recovered six torsos, additional severed limbs, tufts of hair, and some discarded clothing. The remains seem to have been interred several days before their discovery by the team.
Ramirez mentioned that search group members are not blaming anyone or pursuing anyone. The group’s goal is to provide answers to countless Mexican families who have lost relatives and are hoping for their safety or at least seeking closure and support.
“When we venture out here, we do so filled with dread,” Ramirez remarked, noting the presence of mines and explosives along these rural paths. As reported by Breitbart Texas, various Gulf Cartel factions have laid mines and similar devices on numerous dirt roads as part of their strategy to deter rival groups. These measures have already caused harm and fatalities among innocent bystanders.
Search teams operate purely on a volunteer basis and are prepared to respond immediately and organize a search effort.
“Many families are enduring this anguish and are uncertain about how to proceed,” said Ramirez. “My relatives are missing here and they cannot come here or are unsure of what to do; we can assist.”
