‘Guilty on all counts’: how the world’s media reacted to the Trump trial’s historic verdict | Donald Trump

“Guilty on all counts” read the newspaper headline. Guardian Donald Trump made headlines on Friday after being found guilty on all 34 counts of falsifying business records in his historic hush money criminal trial.

It took jurors less than 12 hours to reach a verdict in the unprecedented first criminal trial of a sitting or former U.S. president.

With opinion polls showing Trump with a slight lead over incumbent Joe Biden in the November presidential election, the big question is whether this ruling will affect the outcome, with the Paper’s Washington bureau chief, David Smith, stating, “If this ruling has no effect, then nothing will.”

Under that heading, The Washington Post “We congratulate the Trump jurors not for their verdict, but for their service,” senior commentator Robin Givhan said in a statement.

“At a time when Americans barely agree on whether the sky is bluer or the grass is greener, five women and seven men who had never met each other until two months ago agreed that former President Donald Trump was guilty,” she wrote.

But while an analysis by the paper’s deputy US editor noted the guilty verdict was the biggest moment of the presidential election “in living memory,” it also said the Biden team “may be disappointed if it believes this secures victory.”
