Gulf Coast residents warned of tropical-storm threat: ‘Be on guard’

Millions of people living along the Gulf Coast are being warned to remain vigilant as tropical storms are possible in the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico later this week.

The National Hurricane Center said several potentially severe low pressure systems were developing in the region, and computer forecast models were predicting strong tropical storms developing over the next seven days.

According to the center, the possibility of the system being developed has gradually increased in recent days.

However, the NHC said there was a low chance of the weather developing into a tropical disturbance within the next 48 hours.
