Arizona Gun Store Owner Discusses FBI Inquiry
TUCSON, Ariz. – The owner of a gun store in Arizona has reported that he was approached by FBI agents seeking information on firearm purchases related to a group of around 20 individuals, coinciding with a continuing manhunt for Nancy Guthrie, which is now in its third week.
Phillip Martin, who co-owns Armor Bearer Arms in Tucson, shared with Fox News that the FBI agents brought three pages filled with photos and names of approximately 18 to 24 people.
Martin mentioned he was asked to check if any of these individuals had bought firearms from his store over the last year. “They actually gave me a paper list with pictures and names, asking if I could verify any purchases made in the past year,” Martin explained.
Initially, he was somewhat skeptical about this request. However, out of sympathy for Guthrie’s family, he decided to help. “I felt compassion for them. Anything that could assist in locating someone, I was willing to do,” Martin said.
He noted that his store’s electronic records system allows for searching by last names, though none of the individuals matched any recent firearm purchases. According to Martin, the FBI indicated that they would be checking other gun stores to see if any of the listed people had recently bought weapons.
Separately, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos contradicted reports suggesting the investigation was narrowing down to a specific group, stating in an interview that they were not focusing on any particular set of suspects. “That isn’t accurate. We haven’t limited our search to anything specific, just following evidence as we work to identify this person,” he affirmed.
