At least one person was killed and four others were injured in a shooting at a Nashville coffee shop during Easter brunch, Nashville police said.

“Detectives are working to determine the motive behind this gunman’s shooting during Sunday brunch at Roasted on Garfield Street,” Metro Nashville Police Department posted on X (formerly Twitter). Police released images of the suspected gunman and his car.

Police said the shooting occurred around 3 p.m. when a man opened fire inside the coffee shop, striking five people and killing one.

Shortly after arriving at the scene, police released surveillance photos of the alleged shooter.

“There was an altercation between two men in Roorsted. Sunday brunch was being served. It was during that time that an altercation occurred and escalated very quickly, and one of the men pulled out a gun and fired several shots. shots fired,” Metro Police Officer Don Aaron said. Police said they believe the person who was shot was the person who had been having trouble with the gunman.

Police believe the vehicle belonged to the gunman.

“A total of eight people were transported from the scene,” Aaron continued. He said five people were shot, one of whom died. Another person suffered scratches and a pregnant woman was treated in hospital for a panic attack.

Police added that this was not a gunfight and there was no indication that the people fighting knew each other.

Based on surveillance footage, authorities believe the suspect left the scene in a Mercedes GLS 450.

Officials say the coffee shop has not had any major problems in the past. Police added that the shooting was an isolated incident.

The police department’s homicide team is leading the investigation.

Police said they are almost certain of the shooter’s identity, but are not prepared to release the suspect’s name.
