Mexican authorities remain nervous about the reasons behind the invitation, torture and amputation of nine students who were traveling through Mexico to a beach town in southern Mexico. The mass murder comes when the Trump administration imposed a series of tariffs on Mexico as a punitive measure for the “extremely unbearable relationship” between the Mexican government and the drug cartel.
The incident occurred Sunday in the south-central part of Mexico along a highway near the state's borders of Puebla and Oaxaca. Authorities found one sedan inside or scattered in the vehicle with a total of nine bodies inside or across it. Some of the victims had their hands cut off, while others were completely dismantled. All the victims were shot dead and showed signs of torture.
According to Puebla San The newspaper, all nine victims were Tlaxcala students who traveled to the beach hotspot in Huatulco in Oaxaca. Their relatives reported missing on February 27, but it was not until March 2 that authorities discovered their bodies inside the sedan. The victims are called four women and five men.
Mexican authorities have so far refused to provide details about the case and claim they follow a variety of investigative theories.
The incident coincided with the White House's announcement that it had imposed a series of tariffs on Mexico and that the country was protecting terrorist drug cartels, Breitbart Texas reported.
In response to the tariffs, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum is seeking a large gathering in Zocalo, Mexico City, where she is expected to announce her own set of tariffs on US goods.
