Omenihu pushed for gun control before information was released about the number of guns involved, how they were obtained, and the age and identity of the alleged shooter.
He posted on X:
Prayers for those affected by today’s parade. A time of celebration ends in tragedy. When will these gun laws be revised? How many more people need to die to say it’s enough? It’s too easy for the wrong people to get guns in America, and that’s a fact.

Omenihu did not mention specific gun regulations he would like to see introduced. He simply asked someone to “fix gun laws.” He did not mention that states with stricter laws such as California and New York continue to carry out mass shootings by criminals who do not abide by gun control laws.
California, for example, has nearly every conceivable gun control in place, yet mass shootings still occur frequently in the state.
California is number one state For gun control, according to Mike Bloomberg’s Everytown for Gun Safety. They include red flag laws, universal background checks, gun registration requirements, a 10-day waiting period for gun purchases, a ban on “assault weapons,” a ban on “high-capacity” magazines, and a ban on bringing campuses for self-defense. , prohibiting K-12 teachers from arming themselves for purposes such as classroom defense and ammunition management.
However, on June 5, 2022, Breitbart News reported that California leads the nation in “active shooters.”
