Gutfeld Discovers an Overlooked Irony While Reviewing AOC and Her Alleged Understanding of World History

Gutfeld Critiques Ocasio-Cortez’s Historical Missteps

Fox News host Greg Gutfeld took aim at Democratic Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Tuesday for her inaccuracies regarding historical facts. Ocasio-Cortez had ridiculed Secretary of State Marco Rubio for his assertion that Spanish explorers introduced horse and cowboy culture to Mexico. She implied that these elements didn’t stem from Spanish settlers, a claim that contradicts historical evidence. During a segment on “The Five,” Gutfeld highlighted the irony within the Democrats’ approach to identity politics, suggesting Ocasio-Cortez missed a fundamental historical truth about European impact in America.

“Saying American cowboys originated from Spain is just off-base. She’s mistaken. Horses were introduced by someone in the 15th century. If I remember right, wasn’t it Cortez? Interestingly, she’s a descendant of that very figure who brought horses to Mexico, and subsequently, to America. So, it was indeed Cortez who brought the horses—and the donkeys, too,” Gutfeld remarked.

Gutfeld suggested that Democrats operate under what he called a “binary filter” in the U.S.

“Democrats seem to think there’s equality within the two-party system. Sure, it’s like they’re both players in a game, but step outside the country, and that perception shifts dramatically. It’s akin to two players diving into a combat simulation, yet only one has real-world experience. When Democrats exit their familiar confines, it often becomes evident that they lack practical knowledge. AOC and others could benefit from a bit of online sparring with Trump,” he added.

According to Gutfeld, Democrats confuse identity-driven activism with meaningful national leadership.

“They might feel like they’re on target, but realistically, they’re not even in the same ballpark. Remember how Obama emphasized identity over a cohesive national identity? It seemed contrary, honestly. Issues like transgender rights and justice for felons can sometimes overshadow broader national concerns. Democrats leaned heavily into this short-term virtue signaling, much like students vying for attention,” he stated.

“In many ways, they seem to turn on each other, making Republicans appear like the more rational party by default. When they revert to seeking order, it annoys those who wish to disrupt. The pitfall of identity politics, though, is that it often narrows focus. They come off as immature—like they’re still figuring things out,” Gutfeld remarked.

Historical records indicate that Spanish conquistador Hernan Cortés introduced the first horses to Mexico in 1519 during the conquest of the Aztec Empire. He began with just 16 horses and increased the population after establishing a colony. Following this, Spanish settlers developed breeding farms, which helped expand horse and cattle populations in the region. Indigenous communities managed to acquire horses through various means like trade and alliances.

The controversy surrounding Ocasio-Cortez’s comments in Munich extends beyond merely historical misrepresentation. She also provided a disjointed 40-second answer regarding U.S. military involvement in Taiwan amidst potential Chinese aggression. Former Democratic strategist Dan Turrentine pointed out that moments like this indicate she might not yet be prepared for a presidential bid.
