Comedian Guy Branham Claims Injury on Delta Flight

Comedian Guy Branham recently shared an experience from a Delta Air Lines flight that he found rather troubling. On September 14th, he posted a video on Instagram detailing an encounter with a fellow passenger that left him nursing a bruise.

In the video, Branham, who is 49 years old, described sitting in the middle seat when the man beside him began complaining about feeling cramped. He alleged that the man, who he described as being in his sixties, elbowed him and called him “too fat.” Branham humorously remarked, “There was an exciting adventure on today’s plane flight,” reflecting on the unexpected conflict.

He noted that, as a larger person himself, he usually tries to avoid imposing on others’ space but, for some reason, he had opted for a comfort ticket this time. “I’m a big guy,” he stated, “and I don’t want to be in other people’s space.”

Branham talked about the discomfort of the flight, explaining how the man first seemed annoyed by his belongings in the overhead compartment. He described how the man immediately asked him to move and resorted to elbowing him aggressively when he did not comply, leading Branham to capture the incident on video.

In his video, Branham revealed the bruise on his side caused by the interaction. He recounted how the man had expressed disbelief at Branham sitting next to him, suggesting it was an issue with his size. During their back-and-forth, Branham pointed out that both had paid for their seats, yet the man argued that there wasn’t enough room for him.

Amidst the heated exchange, Branham asked rhetorically if the man would be content to switch places with him. The man responded that he didn’t have much room himself, to which Branham reiterated that he deserved to occupy his own seat too.

Though their argument escalated, it was clear the man carried a preconceived notion about Branham’s weight. He even claimed affiliation with Weight Watchers, suggesting it was a valid reason for his comments.

Later, Branham mentioned that he spoke to the flight attendant, expressing his discomfort about being elbowed, yet he was told it might not escalate further. Eventually, the man chose to switch seats with a woman across the aisle, after which Branham said Delta offered him frequent flyer miles as a gesture of goodwill.

Reflecting on the incident, Branham stated, “Fat people should not wait for the right moment of the future that we deserve to travel or lead our lives.” He emphasized that a change in attitude toward larger passengers is crucial.

He concluded his video by mentioning how some crew members had questioned his size but assured him he wouldn’t be removed from the flight. Branham reportedly sought to uphold his right to share his experience and even set a personal boundary, refusing requests to delete his video footage after the altercation.

In a separate discussion with TMZ, Branham mentioned his intent to file a police report and potential civil lawsuit against the man involved, asserting that being hit due to one’s weight is unacceptable. He also indicated he was in touch with Delta representatives regarding the situation.
