Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s Tribute to Late Partner Kenan Urker
Gypsy Rose Blanchard is channeling her grief into advocacy following the unexpected death of her partner, Kenan “Ken” Urker.
Tragically, Urker passed away in his Louisiana home on October 1, which was also his birthday. He was just 34 years old.
Blanchard, who is 35, shared that Urker faced significant online harassment prior to his passing and urged her followers to support an anti-bullying initiative in his memory.
Details Surrounding Urker’s Death
Blanchard stated on social media, “I only have my daughter and my voice. In honor of Ken, I am asking for your support for Kenan’s Law.” She highlighted the harsh reality of online scrutiny that Urker endured, which she believed crossed into the territory of cyberbullying.
She noted that, despite multiple reports made across different platforms, responses were often dismissive, with statements like “No violation.” According to her, Kenan’s Law aims to change how social media handles repeated harassment reports, asserting that isolated incidents may not reflect a broader pattern but, collectively, they certainly can.
Moreover, she emphasized, “This isn’t about silencing criticism or infringing on free speech. Public figures can certainly be critiqued, but they are also human beings, and we shouldn’t forget their humanity despite their fame.”
Blanchard expressed her resolve to transform her suffering into a constructive purpose, saying, “I can’t change what happened, but I can advocate for the next person who feels unheard.” She urged her audience to “sign and share” the petition, reminding them that fame shouldn’t compromise someone’s humanity.
Possible Circumstances of Urker’s Passing
In a subsequent interview, Blanchard mentioned that she believes Urker may have died from a drug overdose. However, she qualified this uncertainty by stating, “I don’t know if it was intentional or not,” mentioning that he had not been in a good place recently. His body was discovered by family who had called for a welfare check after they hadn’t heard from him.
The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Urker was found unresponsive in his home. According to reports, investigators uncovered various drug paraphernalia, including syringes and a spoon alongside a brown substance, leading them to suspect prolonged drug use.
The sheriff noted that investigations continue, but they currently see no evidence of foul play and indicated that updates would be made if significant developments arise.
A Look Back at Blanchard’s Background
Gypsy Rose Blanchard previously gained notoriety for her role in the death of her abusive mother, which was depicted in the Hulu series “The Act.” She was sentenced to ten years for second-degree murder, but she was released on parole recently, having served 85% of her sentence.
Initially, she and Urker got engaged while she was still in prison, though they later separated. Nonetheless, they reconnected and welcomed their daughter, Aurora, in December 2024.
