Senior political correspondent Maggie Haberman said she believes former President Trump is “becoming more disorganized” as he campaigns for his third White House.
“We're used to seeing him speak in a discursive manner, but it's become more rambling. It's become more and more disjointed and long,” said New York Times reporter and CNN analyst Haberman, who is also a list, spoke on CNN's “The Source” Tuesday night.
CNN host Caitlan Collins played a video of Trump's interview with Bloomberg News Editor-in-Chief John Micklethwaite in Chicago earlier in the day. The former president has been hounded multiple times for not answering questions about Google's potential monopoly, instead answering about international affairs and the military.
At one point, Trump described his roundabout answer as “weaving,” saying, “As long as we end up in the right place.”
When asked if Google should be broken up, President Trump responded to the Virginia Department of Justice lawsuit over voter rolls.
“The issue is about Google and President Trump,” Micklethwait said.
Her appearance on CNN highlighted: mediaiteMr. Haberman said that in recent weeks, Mr. Trump, along with his running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (Democratic), have been on the offensive against their Democratic rival, Vice President Harris, and are particularly concerned about their mental strength. He pointed out that he had doubts.
The Harris-Waltz campaign targeted Trump's interview with Bloomberg, saying he “continued to ramble” and seemed “angry and unfocused.”
Democrats are targeting Trump's lengthy speech, noting that some rally attendees left early.
“If you look back at the length of his speeches a few years ago, when he was president, they were shorter. Now they're 75 or 90 minutes,” Haberman said Tuesday. “His inner circle has been trying to let them down for some time.”
Haberman said he thinks President Trump's calling his speech pattern “weave” is simply “PR trying to explain why he speaks this way.”
President Trump has previously talked about “weave.” podcast last week.
President Trump said, “I do a job called “Weave.'' “And some fair-minded people will say, 'This guy is such a genius,' and others will say, 'Oh, he was rambling.' I won't ramble. ”
