Sen. Deb Fischer (R-Nebraska) told Breitbart News on Wednesday that she had a “good conversation” with President-elect Donald Trump's defense secretary nominee Pete Hegseth on Tuesday.
Hegseth is in his second week of individual meetings with Republican senators ahead of his confirmation hearing scheduled for January. He met with Fisher on Tuesday.
“I met with him yesterday and we had a good conversation,” Fischer, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, told Breitbart News on Wednesday.
Hegseth continued to meet with senators inside and outside the Armed Services Committee on Wednesday. He will reportedly meet with President Trump on Thursday and resume individual talks with senators the following week.
A highly decorated Army major, Hegseth received multiple awards and commendations, including two Bronze Stars for heroism during two combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. He is a graduate of Princeton University and Harvard University and is a longtime host on FOX News.
