Hakeem Jeffries Brags About Stopping Efforts to Ensure Only Citizens Vote

Hakeem Jeffries (D-ny), a leader of the Democratic minority, boasted about Democrats and their progress in halting efforts to ensure that only citizens can vote in federal elections.

“Well, we’ve signed a so-called executive order. It’s a voter-repressive executive order, and we’re trying to do everything the so-called Save Act is trying to do, but we’re trying to do it through executive action.” title “We maintain and protect the integrity of American elections.”

clock:

“Under the Constitution, state governments must protect American elections by absenting federal laws that protect Americans’ rights and protecting American elections against dilution caused by illegal voting, discrimination, fraud, and other forms of fraud and error,” the executive order states that the United States has “not been properly enforced after it has approved the requirements for appropriate federal elections from suppressed countries as Barratt candidates.” Vote. “

It continues [emphasis added]:

a) (i) Within 30 days from the date of this order, the Election Aid Committee shall take appropriate action in the National Postal Voter Registration Form issued under 52 USC 20508.

(a) Documentary Proof of US Citizenshipmatches USC 20508(b)(3). and

(b) A state or local official recording a state or local official recording the type of document that the applicant has presented as documentary proof of US citizenship, including the date of publication of the document, the date of the document’s expiration date (if any) if present, and a unique identification number associated with the document associated with the document associated with the document required for 52 USC 21083(a) (5).

However, Jeffries is opposed to these actions.

“He has no authority to do that. And all the Democrats in the House Democrats have partnered with the Democratic National Committee, with the Democratic Governors Association, and I have joined the suit. I have joined the suit as an individual on your behalf,” he boasted.

“And I like the Jeffries vs Trump name and I believe I’ll win because I sued him in US District Court for the District of Columbia,” he added.

This week a federal judge blocked some of Trump’s executive orders.

Around NPR:

“Our constitution entrusts Congress and states with the power to regulate federal elections, not president,” wrote Judge Colleen Coller Coterry in a 120-page opinion, but states that Congress must present evidence of citizenship to register to vote for federal elections.

“[N]o The statutory delegation of powers to the administrative department allows the president to short-circumvent the deliberation process of Congress by executive orders,” wrote Coller Cotery, appointed by former President Bill Clinton to the U.S. District Court in Washington, DC.

The bloc is expressing further concerns about conservatives who are trying to use judicial overdue and Democrats as key tools to block President Trump’s Magazine Agenda, which Americans voted for in November.

Jeffries’ comments are not surprising, as they have long doubted the existence of the Maga mandate despite the very clear election results.

“I am looking for it despite allegations from some of my Republican colleagues who have spoken about some of the big, massive missions over the past two weeks,” Democrats said in November after a critical loss from former Vice President Kamala Harris.

“That doesn’t mean we don’t need to adjust to reach beyond Republicans in the wave of nationals to withdraw on top of us,” he continued. “But the problem with this concept of some mandate of making massive, extreme policy changes — it doesn’t exist.”

“It doesn’t exist,” he emphasized.
