Newly Released Files Link Hakeem Jeffries to Jeffrey Epstein
The office of House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) sought donations from Jeffrey Epstein and invited him to a dinner with then-President Barack Obama, according to newly unveiled documents. These files, which consist of thousands of pages, were shared last week by the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee and included an email from a Jeffries representative reaching out to Epstein for support.
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) mentioned during discussions that emails surfaced showing that fundraisers had invited Epstein to events and had met with Jeffries in their efforts to secure a majority in 2013. That year, Dynamic SRG, a firm based in New York City, referred to Jeffries as the “Obama of Brooklyn.” The email indicated Jeffries was committed to building a Democratic majority by 2014 and encouraged his contacts to support the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.
Dynamic SRG’s email went further, inviting Epstein to a fundraising dinner with President Obama. They also expressed willingness to connect Epstein with Jeffries to discuss opportunities to know him better. Comer stated that it was evident Jeffries’ campaign was asking for contributions from Epstein based on the latest findings.
At the time Epstein was contacted in May 2013, he had recently completed a 13-month prison sentence for sexually exploiting minors.
Comer emphasized the need for former President Bill Clinton to testify in relation to the investigation. He mistakenly mentioned former President Trump instead of Clinton. According to him, the Oversight Committee has issued a subpoena for Clinton, accusing Democrats of failing to secure his appearance, and underscoring the committee’s commitment to transparency and justice for the victims involved.
Donald Trump Jr. pointed out the inconsistencies in how the Democratic Party addressed Epstein’s connections. He raised questions about Epstein’s continued influence and attendance at private events despite his criminal past. Meanwhile, Jeffries faced criticism for not addressing the implications of text messages shared between Epstein and Democratic Rep. Stacey Plaskett from the U.S. Virgin Islands. It was revealed that Plaskett had received coaching from Epstein during a hearing involving Michael Cohen, a former Trump lawyer, in 2019.
During the hearing, Epstein reportedly provided real-time feedback to Plaskett, complimenting her performance and advising her on questions. After the session, Epstein sent an email expressing gratitude for her efforts. Plaskett had also received substantial campaign contributions from Epstein during previous election cycles.
Epstein owned the private island of Little St. James in the U.S. Virgin Islands from 1998 until his death in 2019. Reports indicate that the House Freedom Caucus has called for Plaskett’s removal from the Intelligence Committee, citing her connections and mentorship from Epstein.
