Nikki Haley expressed optimism after the former South Carolina governor began campaigning in her home state on Thursday.

Despite this, Ms. Haley appears to have few allies in South Carolina's Republican Party or its upper echelons, with both of the state's senators backing Mr. Trump and RNC chief Ronna McDaniel. Trump has almost declared victory in the 2024 primary.

Rep. Nancy Mace (RS.C.) also congratulated Haley on her successful campaign, but endorsed Trump earlier this week.
