Hamas Ally China ‘Firmly’ Condemns Killing of Top Terrorist Ismail Haniyeh

China’s foreign ministry declared on Thursday that the communist regime “resolutely” opposes and is “deeply concerned” after what appeared to be a targeted attack in Iran the previous day killed Hamas “political” leader Ismail Haniyeh.

China, under the leadership of genocidal dictator Xi Jinping, has sought to play a key role in the Middle East through cooperation with Hamas. Representatives of the Chinese Communist Party met with Haniyeh as recently as March and reportedly told the terrorist leader that Beijing considers Hamas “part of the Palestinian state” and that China is keen to engage with Hamas. China has also tried on several occasions to broker talks between Hamas and its rival group, Fatah, which controls the West Bank. Hamas now controls Gaza and uses it as a base for terrorist massacres against Israeli citizens.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), designated a terrorist organisation by the US, said on Wednesday that Haniyeh had died in Tehran under unknown circumstances. SurgeryThe Israeli government has called it an Israeli assassination. Neither the Israeli government nor any other party has claimed responsibility for the attack, which is believed to have targeted Haniya’s compound. The administration of left-wing US President Joe Biden has distanced itself from the attack, saying it had no involvement or prior knowledge of it.

Haniyeh was in Tehran to attend the inauguration of the new president, Massoud Pezechkian, “Supreme Leader” Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Presided over over his funeral on Thursday.

As a “political” leader, Haniyeh lived in luxury accommodation in Doha, Qatar, far from the destruction Hamas inflicted on Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, and met with Hamas’s key global allies. He was estimated to have been worth $4 billion at the time of his death.

“We firmly oppose and condemn the assassination and are deeply concerned that this incident will plunge the region into further turmoil,” Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Lin Jian said. Said “There needs to be a comprehensive and permanent ceasefire in Gaza as soon as possible and there should be no further escalation of conflict and hostilities,” he told reporters on Thursday in response to a question about Haniyeh.

Lin added that China supports “intra-Palestinian reconciliation,” an apparent reference to efforts toward reconciliation between Hamas and Fatah, which have been at odds since Hamas terrorists attacked Fatah and Palestinians. Seized They took control of Gaza in 2007.

“China remains committed to maintaining peace and stability in the Middle East and opposes external interference,” Lin added, but did not clarify why China’s continuing attempts to support Hamas are not “external interference.”

Chinese state-run propaganda newspaper Global Times Quote Several government-sanctioned “experts” lamented that Haniyeh’s death would have “adverse effects on the future of the Israeli-Palestinian situation.”

“As a result, Israeli-Palestinian reconciliation efforts, as well as peace talks between Hamas and Israel, are likely to face major setbacks,” a scholar who gave his name as Sun Dehgan told the media outlet.

Hamas has been waging a war against Israel for decades. declare Israel denied any genocidal intent to wipe out the state and its people, but formally declared war on Hamas in the aftermath of its October 7 invasion of Israel and its gruesome massacres in which entire communities, including young children, were tortured and executed. Interviews with survivors and evidence-gathering efforts have revealed that in addition to the massacres, Hamas terrorists also committed acts of gang rape, torture, and desecration of corpses, some of which they filmed themselves and uploaded online.

China has refrained from meaningful condemnation of Hamas’ actions, instead blaming Israel’s presence for its ongoing jihad against Hamas. In his first comments on the October 7 killings in November, dictator Xi Jinping accused Israel of conducting “collective punishment” in its self-defense operations in Gaza and made a series of demands on Israel, but did not similarly condemn Hamas.

“All violence and attacks against civilians must be stopped, captured civilians must be released, and actions must be taken to prevent further loss of life and save the people from further suffering,” Xi said at the time. “Collective punishment against the people of Gaza, such as forced deportations and deprivation of water, electricity and fuel, must be stopped.”

Since October, the Chinese government has been trying to normalize and neutralize Hamas by hosting talks with Fatah and leading an “Arab Dialogue” effort. After a first round of talks in April appeared to make no progress, Chinese leaders announced in July that Hamas and Fatah, along with the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) terrorist organization, had signed a document dubbed the “Beijing Declaration,” committing them to greater cooperation against Israel in the future.

“Today, we have signed the national unity agreement and we say that the path to completing this journey is national unity. We are committed to and seek national unity,” Mousa Abu Marzouk, a member of Hamas’ Politburo, said at the time. The agreement reportedly centered around the establishment of a “transitional national reconciliation government for the governance of post-war Gaza.”
