Hamas fired a rocket on Friday at the Kerem Shalom border crossing, one of several points where humanitarian aid enters the Gaza Strip from Israel.
This was just the latest similar attack after a barrage of rockets hit an intersection last weekend, killing four Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers and wounding several others.
The IDF issued a statement.
Following sirens blaring in the Kerem Shalom area earlier today (Friday), one launch was confirmed entering Israel from the Rafah area. The launch was successfully intercepted by an IDF air defense array.
Earlier, sirens rang out again in the Kerem Shalom area. IDF air defense arrays intercepted additional launches from the Rafah area.
The Biden administration insisted that Israel resume crossings almost immediately, despite threats to Israeli military and humanitarian aid convoys. Israel agreed and began preparing to reopen its borders. On Wednesday, State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said: accused Although Israel insisted it had not opened the crossing, the Israel Defense Forces released footage of a truck passing through the crossing and entering Gaza.
There are also reports that mortar shells have been fired sporadically at the site of a humanitarian pier being built by the US military off the coast of Gaza.
