Hamas hands over the body of Thai hostage Sudthisak Rinthalak to Israel

Confirmation of Thai National’s Death

On Thursday morning, Israeli authorities confirmed that the body found with a Palestinian terrorist in the Gaza Strip was that of Sudisak Rintalak, a Thai national who had been kidnapped during the massacre on October 7, 2023.

Rintalak’s family has been notified, and plans are in place to return his remains to Thailand for burial, with the cooperation of the Thai embassy in Israel.

In a statement, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office expressed condolences, noting, “The Israeli government shares the deep sorrow of the Rintalak family, the Thai people, and all the families of the murdered abductees.”

The statement further emphasized that Israel’s security establishment is “determined, committed and working tirelessly” to secure the return of the last remaining hostage in Gaza, Israeli police counter-terrorism sergeant Ran Gviri.

The Prime Minister’s Office added, “The terrorist organization Hamas must fulfill its obligations to the mediator and ensure his return in line with the ceasefire agreements. We will not compromise on this and will spare no effort to bring him back to Israel.”

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported that Rintalak was killed during a Hamas-led attack on October 7, and his body was subsequently taken to the Gaza Strip, where it was held by the Islamic Jihad group. He had been working as a farmer when he was abducted from an orchard in Kibbutz Beeri.

Rintalak was 42 years old at the time of his death, which was confirmed on May 16, 2024. He is survived by his parents and siblings.

The IDF offered its condolences to the families of the deceased, affirming its commitment to make every effort to recover the remaining deceased hostages and uphold the agreements made.
