In brief remarks Wednesday, Vice President Harris accused former President Trump of seeking “unchecked power” and being “unfettered and unstable.”
Harris made the remarks outside the White House in response to remarks made by John Kelly, President Trump's longest-serving chief of staff, in an interview published in The New York Times and The Atlantic on Tuesday.
“It is clear from John Kerry's words that Donald Trump is, as I quote, someone who 'definitely fits the general definition of a fascist' and, in fact, he will be a dictator from day one. He swore that he would use the military as his own militia to exact a personal and political vendetta,'' Harris said. “Donald Trump is increasingly volatile and volatile, and a second term will not see someone like John Kerry provide guardrails for his tendencies and actions.”
Kelly, a former Marine Corps general who worked for President Trump in the White House from 2017 to 2019, told The Times and The Atlantic that Republican presidential candidates meet the definition of fascists and that Trump is in office. He said he alluded to Nazi leader Adolf Hitler. I did something good. ”
