Former Vice President Kamala Harris was once again disrupted at a rally by anti-Israel protesters.
On Friday evening, Trump, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, was about to speak about his new running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, when a protest erupted from somewhere in the crowd.
At first their voices were drowned out by chants of “USA! USA!” from the crowd of about 15,000, but as they continued to protest, Harris decided to address them.
“This is what it comes down to: We’re all here together,” she said at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, “because we love our country. We’re here to fight for our democracy, and that includes respecting the voices that we feel are being heard.”

She added: “And let me just say this about what I think I’m hearing out there. Let me talk about that for a second and then I’ll get back to it. So let me be very clear: It’s time to get a ceasefire, it’s time to get the hostages done. It’s time. The president and I are working around the clock every day to get a ceasefire, to bring the hostages home. So, I respect what you’re saying, but we’re here right now to talk about the 2024 elections.”
About four or five protesters were removed from the rally.
Her address to protesters came two days after she drew both praise and criticism for telling them: “Hey, if you want Donald Trump to win, say it. If you don’t, I’ll speak.”
Some criticised her response, shown in a video circulated on social media, but the 59-year-old initially defended her right to protest.

Anti-Israel voters warn Harris won’t get votes without a ceasefire: “This is our leverage.”
“I’m here because I believe in democracy. Everyone’s voice matters, but I’m speaking out now. I’m speaking out now,” she began, telling demonstrators who chanted “Kamala, Kamala, you can’t hide! We will not vote for genocide.”
But when they refused to stop, she lost patience.

Before the Detroit rally, she also met briefly with supporters of the National Campaign for Independents, which has been urging Biden to uphold the ceasefire by voting independent in the primary.

“Michigan voters want to support you, but we need policies now that will save the lives of people in Gaza,” the group’s co-founder reportedly told Harris during the meeting. NBC News“Every day I meet with community members in Michigan who have lost dozens, even hundreds, of family members in Gaza. We need an arms embargo now.”
During his presidential campaign, Biden was frequently disrupted by anti-Israel protesters.
