Harris campaign drops border-focused ad featuring ex-Trump administration official

Vice President Harris' campaign on Tuesday released an ad focused on the country's southern border featuring Olivia Troy, former national security adviser to former Vice President Mike Pence.

In the ad, first provided exclusively to The Hill, Troy talks about his time working in the Trump administration and claims he supports Harris' border security plan.

“Kamala Harris is the leader we need to keep our country safe and strong,” Troye said. “As a homeland security expert, I trust her to protect our borders. Kamala Harris' plan will strengthen border security and crack down on drug smuggling and human trafficking.”

Harris traveled to the Arizona border on Friday to sign a new version of the failed bipartisan Senate border agreement, pledging to further tighten asylum restrictions that have helped reduce border crossings since May.

Mr. Troy participated in the launch of “Republicans for Harris,” which included endorsements from more than 25 Republicans.

The campaign targets independent, moderate, and conservative voters through its Republican Harris Endorsement Program through paid media efforts and grassroots-driven digital campaigns featuring direct-to-camera testimonials like the Trojan ad. A campaign official told The Hill.

Troy also spoke at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago in August, along with other Republicans, including former Georgia lieutenant governor Jeff Duncan and former Illinois congressman Adam Kinzinger. She joined the Harris campaign in the spin room during last month's presidential debate.
