Vice President Harris’ campaign is touting her immigration record in a new ad, arguing that she will take a tough stance on the key issue of the southern border.
“Tougher” highlights that the Vice President worked as a prosecutor in California before becoming a senator.
“Kamala Harris has fought violent crime for decades. As a border state prosecutor, she took on drug cartels and jailed gang members who smuggled weapons and drugs across the border,” the ad reads.
They added, “As vice president, she supported the toughest border control bill in decades, and as president, she will hire thousands more Border Patrol agents and crack down on fentanyl and human trafficking.”
“The border is hard to mend, and so is Kamala Harris.”
The Harris campaign is seeking to keep the border issue a key issue ahead of the November election, while fending off attacks on the border from former President Trump’s campaign.
“Kamala Harris has been appointed sole leader of our border, which has quickly become the worst and most dangerous border in history. As President, Harris will completely destroy our Country!” Trump said. Authentic Social Posts Late Sunday.
The new Harris ads will run in Arizona and Nevada, the Harris campaign said in a memo, adding that the vice president will continue to criticize Trump for his role in the failure of a border deal negotiated by a bipartisan group of senators.
“She and Governor Walz are campaigning on a promise to restore the agreement if elected, and to double down on their message, our campaign is highlighting her fight for border security in new ads running in both states,” the campaign said.
The ad comes after the Trump campaign released its first ad last week criticizing Harris for her role in the Biden administration’s efforts to address migration at the U.S. border. House Republicans also recently approved a resolution censoring Harris as the Biden administration’s “border secretary” after she was tasked in 2021 with addressing the root causes of migration.
