Harris Campaign Unable to Address Stolen Valor Accusations Plaguing Walz

The Harris 2024 campaign has failed to explain why Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (D) falsely claimed the state was “at war,” and has failed to address the defamation accusations that have dogged the Democratic vice presidential nominee over the past two days.

Since Vice President Kamala Harris announced Waltz as her running mate on Tuesday, he has been dogged by false claims he made throughout his political career misrepresenting his military record.

Waltz served in the Army National Guard for 24 years but never deployed to war or combat, retiring as a sergeant in 2005, just before his unit was deployed to Iraq.

However, he has repeatedly claimed to be a retired sergeant major, a higher rank than he actually held, and falsely suggested that he had served in war.

He repeated that false suggestion in a video clip released by the Harris campaign, in which he claimed Walz had carried weapons “in a war.”

He also falsely claimed in the video that he had served 25 years in prison, when in fact he had served 24 years and one month.

Veterans who served with Waltz also accuse him of abandoning them as he was preparing to deploy to Iraq at the height of the war, despite being the unit’s top non-commissioned officer.

Republican vice presidential nominee, Sen. J.D. Vance of Ohio, fired back at the governor when asked about Walz’s attacks at a press conference on Wednesday.

When the United States of America asked me to go to Iraq to serve my country, I did. I followed their call and served honorably, and I am very proud of that service. When Tim Walz was asked by his country to go to Iraq, what do you think he did? He quit the military and let his troops go without him. This has been roundly criticized by many who served with him. I think it’s shameful to prepare your troops to go to Iraq, promise to follow through on your promise, and then quit right before you have to go.

When asked about Vance’s comments, the White House completely dodged the allegation, with White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre saying only that Waltz enlisted at age 17 and served for 24 years.

“He’s a guy who enlisted at 17 to serve his country. He was a member of the Army National Guard for 24 years. He’s a high school teacher, a high school coach, he’s a guy who grew up in a small town in the Midwest. So his background speaks for itself, the kind of person he is, his record speaks for itself. I’m not going to say anything more than that,” she said.

Walz himself on Wednesday ignored questions about his military history.

And the Harris-Waltz campaign Responded on wednesday Washington Posting about his allegations, No explanation was given as to why Waltz falsely claimed to be a retired Army sergeant major or to have served in a “war.”

Instead, the campaign avoided his false claims entirely. post Waltz “has carried and fired weapons of war and trained others in their use on countless occasions,” but “refused to say why he falsely claimed to have done so in war.”

The campaign also attempted to smear Republican vice presidential nominee Senator Vance (R-Ohio), saying, “Governor Walz would never disparage or undermine the service of any American to his country. In fact, he thanks Senator Vance for putting his life on the line for our country.”

The controversy has grown even more in recent days, with even a CNN commentator admitting that Walz has not been honest about his military history.

“That’s just completely wrong,” said one commentator.

There is growing doubt as to whether Harris is considering Walz as a running mate.

Harris’ VP nomination review Reportedly This was done by Eric Holder, who served as attorney general under former President Barack Obama.

Reuters, which reported on Holder’s involvement, wrote that “his involvement in the vetting process may reassure Democrats that a longtime political and legal expert can help ensure there are no significant conflicts of interest in selecting Harris, should she win the nomination.”

The Associated Press called the process of selecting Harris’ running mate a “whirlwind” and a “16-day blitz.”

“Ultimately, the process offered a preview of how Ms. Harris will fare under the pressure of the Oval Office,” the Associated Press reported.
