Harris campaign unveils three ads targeting Trump on abortion ahead of debate

Vice President Harris' campaign released three new ads on Saturday targeting former President Trump's comments about reproductive health ahead of the upcoming debate.

told us” includes Trump saying, “For 54 years, they've been trying to repeal Roe v. Wade, and I got it done, and I'm proud that I got it done,” during a town hall meeting the former president participated in with Fox News in January.

The ad warned that Trump wants to go further and pass a nationwide abortion ban, even though the Republican candidate has said he would not sign it. Refused to speak If such a ban were to arrive on his desk, would he veto it?

Another 30-second ad reads:big family” is narrated by Alabama resident LaTorria Beasley, who describes how her own embryo transfer was canceled after the Alabama Supreme Court ruled in February that frozen embryos are children, threatening the use of in vitro fertilization (IVF).

The last ad was “laurel” is narrated by Wisconsin resident Laurel Marcinkus, who describes how she had to have labor induced due to a blood clot in her uterus, but didn't receive immediate treatment because doctors at the time were afraid they would be prosecuted for her treatment, she said.

“I nearly died, and it's because of Donald Trump's decision,” Marcinkus says in the ad. The footage, taken from a 2016 MSNBC interview, also includes the former president saying women who have abortions “need to be punished.”

“Told Us” will air during high-rating times, including battleground states and prime-time return periods for popular shows, the campaign said. The “Laurel” and “Big Family” ads will air in digital spots across Hulu, Roku, YouTube, Paramount, Spotify and Pandora platforms.

“Donald Trump is a fundamental threat to reproductive freedom. You don't have to take our word for it; Trump himself has said so,” Harris spokesperson Lauren Hitt said in a statement. “In fact, he has said multiple times that he is 'proud' of overturning Roe, which has harmed countless women, including LaTorria and Laurel.”

The ads are part of the campaign's $370 million investment across television and digital between Labor Day and Election Day.

The Harris campaign also launched a reproductive rights bus tour this week, with Minnesota first lady Gwen Waltz and second gentleman Doug Emhoff due to accompany her on Tuesday. The two spouses will visit Asheville and Raleigh, North Carolina, to speak out about restrictive abortion laws passed in Republican-leaning states since Roe v. Wade was overturned in 2022.
