Sen. Budd spoke about the current state of the race and described Democratic tactics to prevent Trump from winning the state for the third consecutive election cycle.
“This is a situation that should never be taken for granted,” Budd said, explaining that Trump and his campaign are “doing the work” necessary to win. Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Whatley hails from the Tarheel State and has a particular appreciation for what it will take to win there.
Budd said Whatley and co-chair Lara Trump are doing a great job of interpreting and applying the lessons of the 2020 election.
“They did a great job of making sure the ballots were accurate and removing people who weren't legally on the voter rolls,” Budd told Boyle. “I think the number they put out yesterday, about 774,000 people, they weren't legally registered. They were dead, they were duplicates, things like that, but… It was removed. So it was a great job.”
Most of all, Republicans have become more aggressive this cycle.
“Michael Whatley argued that he couldn't sue after Election Day,” Budd said. “You have to get in front of that. And they've done a great job and learned a lot of lessons in 2020, so ensuring the integrity of the ballot is their main focus right now.” That's one.”
Budd also led criticism of the Democratic Party, raising questions on the Senate floor about whether Joe Biden and Kamala Harris were using taxpayer funds to register Democratic voters, and reporting to Breitbart. Boyle said Harris' team's choice of a sleepy Friday night for the speech was consistent with the decision to limit her access to the media and interviews.

Budd contrasted the Democratic approach to the America First policy of Trump and his running mate, Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio).

They take the Constitution away from people. They take it away, they try to change the Second Amendment, but then it comes back to control.
