Vice President Harris' approval rating did not increase significantly after the Democratic National Convention and she maintains a small lead over former President Trump in a new national poll.
A new ABC News/Ipsos poll finds Released on Sunday, The survey showed that Ms Harris led Mr Trump by four points among all adults and registered voters, 50% to 46%, and that she led Mr Trump among likely voters, 52% to 46%.
Pollsters said the results were similar and statistically consistent with a previous poll conducted in August, when an ABC News/Washington Post/Ipsos poll conducted before the convention found Harris with 49% of registered voters, compared with 45% for Trump.
The poll, released after last month's Democratic National Convention (DNC), is closely watched to see whether the vice president will experience a post-convention surge, as some candidates have in the past. The poll was conducted on August 23, the day after the final day of the DNC.
While most of the numbers remain roughly the same as before the Democratic National Convention, pollsters noted that Harris has widened the gender gap: She now leads by 13 points among women (54% to 41%), while Trump leads by 5 points among men (51% to 46%). Before the convention, Harris had a 6-point lead among women, pollsters said.
Ms Harris also fared well on the campaign trail, with 56% of Americans saying she was doing an excellent or good job, compared with about 41% who said the same about Mr Trump, but most had a more negative view of his campaign, according to the poll.
Trump, meanwhile, outperformed Harris in confidence on key issues such as the economy and inflation, leading by eight points in each area, and maintained a nine-point lead over Harris in confidence in her handling of the US-Mexico border issue.
Polls show the vice president is seen as more trustworthy than President Trump when it comes to protecting American democracy and appointing Supreme Court justices.
This follows a series of other polls showing Harris holding a slim lead over President Trump, who has all but denied her growing support.
According to The Hill/Decision Desk polling index, Harris is leading Trump nationally by 3.8 percentage points.
The ABC News/Ipsos poll was conducted Aug. 23-27, with 2,496 people interviewed. The margin of sampling error is plus or minus 2.1 percentage points at the 95 percent confidence level.
