Harris Is Laying Out a ‘Strong Progressive Agenda’

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) said on MSNBC’s “All In” on Friday that Vice President Kamala Harris laid out “strong, progressive policies” in her economic speech earlier today.

Asked for his reaction to the speech, Sanders replied, “Considering the fact that she’s only been a candidate for three weeks, I think she’s done really well on all fronts. I think what she laid out today was a strong progressive platform. Obviously, in the coming weeks and months, she will be adding more specificity and building on some of the proposals. I’ve always believed that good policy is good politics. What she’s talking about today is rain and the outrageous prices of prescription drugs, which is very popular and it’s the right thing to do.”

He added: “At a time when we have a housing crisis in Burlington, Los Angeles and everywhere in between, she’s talking about building 3 million affordable housing units. We have to make housing cheaper in America. She’s talking about eliminating medical debt so that a quarter of cancer patients in this country don’t have to use up their savings or go bankrupt. She’s talking about controlling food prices, but we know there’s concentrated ownership in that industry. They’re the ones driving up prices, and going after them is just the right thing to do and very good politics.”
