Harris leading Trump by 5 points among likely voters: Poll

According to one report, Vice President Harris leads former President Trump by 5 points nationwide among likely voters. Marist poll released Wednesday.

A poll conducted between October 8 and 10 found that Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (Democratic), received 52% support, while Trump and his running mate received 52% support. Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) received 47% support. One percent of respondents supported another candidate.

Harris' lead has widened since the last Marist poll, conducted from September 27 to October 27. The No. 1 candidate had a two-point lead over Trump among likely voters, with an approval rating of 50% and Trump's 48%.

Among registered voters, the Trump-Vance ticket has a slight edge over the Harris-Waltz ticket, with registered voters favoring the Democratic ticket over the Republican ticket by 3 points (51 percent to 48 percent).

A similar 3-point margin separated the winner in the previous poll in September, when 50% of registered voters supported Harris and 47% supported Trump.

The latest poll of likely voters shows Trump leading Harris among independents, 54% to 44%. In the previous poll, the gap between her and Harris had widened from 4 points to 10 points.

The latest polls will be released within three weeks before voters head to the polls on Election Day.

Lee Miringoff, director of the Marist newspaper, said, “Two things are worth noting in the final stages of the presidential election. First, when you look at people who are likely to vote, Harris is doing better. “The higher the rate, the more favorable it is for Mr. Harris.” The Institute for Public Opinion said in a statement:

“Second, we shouldn't overlook that the gender gap, which is expected to be unusually high, goes both ways: Trump favors men and Harris favors women.” added Miringoff.

The election race remains close between candidates from the two major parties. The latest Decision Desk Headquarters/The Hill national polling average shows Ms. Harris leading Mr. Trump by 2.8 points, 49.7% to 46.9%.

The latest Marist poll included 1,401 likely voters and had a margin of error of 3.9 percentage points.
