Harris reacts to Biden’s cancer diagnosis: ‘Joe is a fighter’

Former Vice President Kamala Harris remarked on President Biden’s recent cancer diagnosis on Sunday, describing him as a “fighter.”

“Doug and I are deeply saddened to learn about President Biden’s prostate cancer diagnosis. During this time, our thoughts and prayers are with him, Dr. Biden, and their entire family,” Harris shared in a message on Social Platform X.

“Joe is a fighter, and I believe he will tackle this challenge with the strength, resilience, and optimism that have always defined his life and leadership. We’re hoping for a complete and swift recovery,” she added.

This statement came shortly after a spokesperson for Biden revealed that the former president has been diagnosed with an aggressive type of prostate cancer.

“Last week, President Biden was discovered to have prostate nodules following an increase in urinary symptoms,” said a statement from his private office.

“On Friday he received a diagnosis of prostate cancer, noted for a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) with metastasis to the bone, indicating a more aggressive form of the disease; however, the cancer seems to respond well to hormonal treatment, allowing for effective management.”

Messages of support for Biden poured in from both Democratic and Republican circles on Sunday, including from his former rival, President Trump.

“Melania and I are saddened to hear about Joe Biden’s recent health news,” Trump wrote on The Society of Truth. “We send warmest wishes to Jill and the family. We hope for Joe’s quick and successful recovery.”
