Harris remembers intense phone conversation with Biden ahead of her 2024 presidential debate with Trump

Kamala Harris Discusses Debate Preparation in Upcoming Memoir

In her forthcoming memoir, former Vice President Kamala Harris shares an unexpected moment leading up to her debate against President Donald Trump. Just prior to their televised discussion in Pennsylvania, Harris received a call from then-President Joe Biden. During this call, Biden expressed concern over Harris’s positioning with a Democratic donor, alleging that influential figures in Philadelphia were displeased with his withdrawal from the race and were threatening to withdraw their support from her campaign.

Harris recalled Biden’s apprehension, stating, “He’s worried and distracted by hostile power brokers in the biggest city in the most important swing state.” This call, she felt, came at an inopportune juncture as she focused on the critical debate ahead.

Reflecting on the call, Harris noted, “I had to be completely in the game. I couldn’t understand why he was calling me now and making everything about himself.” Despite her feelings of loyalty towards Biden, she viewed the interaction as a test of their relationship. “Why is he looking for it?” she pondered, concerned about the implications of the conversation.

While she acknowledged Biden’s previous term, Harris appeared to have reservations about his leadership. She commented on his debate performance in 2024, suggesting that, “They should have counselled him accordingly.”

Harris countered accusations from opponents claiming that she and those around Biden sought to cover up his shortcomings, including his ability to fulfill presidential duties. Currently, the Trump administration is investigating former Biden aides over potential cover-ups, with House Oversight Committee Chairman James Komer suggesting that Harris might be called in for questioning due to her recent memoir.

Her book, titled “107 Days,” is set to be released on September 23rd, and it captures her exceptionally brief presidential campaign in 2024.
