Harris support among Black swing-state voters steady: Survey

Vice President Harris maintains a lead over former President Trump among black voters in battleground states, according to a new poll.

ofHoward University Polling InitiativeThe poll found that 84% of likely black voters in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin will support Harris in November. Only 8% said they supported Trump.

But the poll also found a wide gender gap, with Harris leading Trump by 81 points among black women, but only 59 points among black men.

Black men under 50 were the most likely to support Trump. 81% of black women under 50 support Harris, compared to 68% of black men under 50.

Harris is aware that her support among black men is waning and has recently stepped up efforts to court them through her Opportunity Agenda for Black Men. Training and mentorship programs to open doors to “high-demand” industries. and efforts focused on addressing health issues that disproportionately impact Black men.

The vice president also vowed to legalize marijuana and ensure black men benefit from its business potential.

But the survey also found that men and women are divided on the most important issues for black voters this year.

Black women cited abortion as their top issue, while black men cited democracy and the economy as their top concerns.

Still, black voters overwhelmingly trust Harris to handle key issues more than Trump.

Eighty-three percent of black voters said they trusted Harris to run the economy, compared to 11% who said they had more confidence in Trump. 86% have more confidence in Harris on abortion, compared to just 8% who trust Trump. 83% trust Harris to handle immigration, while only 12% trust Trump.

The results are fairly consistent with:septemberAccording to the poll, Harris' approval rating was 82%, while Trump's approval rating was 12%.

The survey surveyed 981 likely voters who identify as African American or Black and are registered to vote in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, or Wisconsin on October 2. It was held from the 8th to the 8th. The margin of error for likely voters is plus or minus 3.2 percentage points.
