Harris Undermines Her Own Economic Record

Vice President Kamala Harris on Tuesday undermined her own economic policies, acknowledging that inflation has been too high under a Biden-Harris administration.

Harris faces a conundrum: Campaigning on policies to improve crime, inflation and border security could undermine the policies of the Biden-Harris administration, but she must tout the administration's policies to make her own record and the legitimacy of her candidacy.

“Are groceries still too expensive?” Harris asked rhetorically at a rally for the National Association of Black Journalists.

“Yes,” she answered.

“Is there still work to be done?” she asked again rhetorically. “Yes.”

Since the Biden-Harris administration took office in 2021, prices have risen across the board by about 20% on average.

“I believe we can develop a new generation of leaders for our country, particularly at a time of change,” Harris said, seemingly taking a swipe at President Joe Biden. “And so my economic plan includes what I envision, what I believe in, what I call the opportunity economy.”

Harris also falsely claimed the Biden-Harris administration inherited the “worst unemployment rate since the Great Depression.” Marked Error by PolitiFact.

This isn't the first time Harris has disparaged Biden's record or criticized him. Speaking with Philadelphia's Action News 6 ABC's Brian Taff on Friday, Harris suggested she had a fresh “approach” with “new ideas” to the “current situation.”

“To be honest with you, my focus is very much on what do we need to do in the next 10, 20 years to catch up with the 21st century,” Harris said. said“I'm obviously not Joe Biden, but, you know, I am proposing a new generation of leadership.”
