Kamala Harris was equivocal when asked about immigration policy during a brief interview with CNN.
Host Dana Bash asked, “Did you raise your hand? [in a 2019 debate] “There was a question asking whether the border should be decriminalized. Do you still believe that?”
“I think there should be consequences,” Harris replied vaguely. “We have laws that deal with people who cross the border illegally, and they must be followed and enforced. And there should be consequences.”
She did not mention any legal consequences for illegal immigrants.
Additionally, since 2021, she has been the backbone of Border Patrol Chief Alejandro Mayorkas.
He claims to have smuggled at least one million economic migrants into the United States through what he calls “legal channels,” but at the same time imposed “consequences” on millions of quiet economic migrants who sneak into American neighborhoods and workplaces.
Mayorkas's immigration policies have been strongly supported by West Coast investors who are backing Harris' 2024 campaign.

Later in the interview, Harris also said her “values” have not changed.

But her record also shows that her values include an openness to mass immigration into American society and the economy.

As a senator, she voted to block federal oversight of “sponsors” who house young job seekers who cross the border under the Unaccompanied Alien Children program.

She also asked, “Why did the Biden-Harris administration wait three and a half years to implement comprehensive refugee restrictions?” but Bash dodged the question.
