Republican Support for Trump at Record High, Says Analyst
CNN’s chief data analyst, Harry Enten, reported on Thursday that a record percentage of Republicans believe President Donald Trump positively impacts the Republican Party.
According to a CNN/SSRS poll, 71% of Republicans share this sentiment, a significant increase from 62% earlier this year, and aligned with views expressed by Republicans in 2021. Enten noted that Trump’s “Make America Great Again” (MAGA) movement and endorsements for Vice President J.D. Vance are gaining traction within the party.
Enten emphasized that the data reflects a strong appreciation for Trump among Republicans, stating, “When he left after his first term, it was 71%. Before his second campaign, it was 62%. Now, 71% again believe he’s had a positive impact on the party.”
He also acknowledged skepticism from some left-leaning individuals regarding Trump’s influence. “There are many who claim Trump has a weak hold on the party. But, after events like the recent ones in Minnesota, it seems that’s not really how the average voter sees it.”
The recent shootings of Renee Good and Alex Preti by ICE and Border Patrol agents in Minneapolis have drawn national focus.
“Republicans support Trump, they support MAGA, they support J.D. Vance,” Enten added. “They think Trump has been beneficial for the Republican Party. None of these figures are going away anytime soon in Republican circles.”
He also mentioned that Trump is currently more favored among Republican voters than any GOP president in recent memory, based on his own data collection.
A Marquette Law School poll indicated that attitudes toward deportation have remained relatively stable since November 2025, despite escalating anti-ICE protests. The poll found that 56% of Americans still support deporting individuals living in the country illegally, a slight drop from 58% previously.
Interestingly, 35% of deportation supporters criticized the way ICE enforces immigration laws, while those against deportation largely opposed ICE’s methods. Additionally, the poll revealed that 37% believed Good’s shooting was justified, whereas 62% disagreed.
