Harry Kane discusses golfing with President Trump.

There’s a thought that Harry Kane might want to reach out to President Donald Trump if he finds himself in trouble during the World Cup match against Norway this Saturday.

As England’s captain, Kane shared that he had a memorable round of golf with Trump in Florida about a year and a half ago. “When he invites you, it’s not something you say no to. It was surreal just to meet him and play,” Kane reflected on Friday. “Honestly, he’s got a decent swing. I hope to keep my game up like his when I’m older.”

He described the experience as “unique” and expressed gratitude for the invitation to play golf together. Kane shared he played “pretty okay” that day, which, you know, sounds a bit modest given the circumstances. This golf outing popped back into the conversation after Trump recently praised him for his performance.

After leading England to a 3-2 victory over Mexico in the round of 16, Kane not only scored the third goal via a penalty but also provided an assist. Trump took to social media, declaring, “Harry Kane of England is a great player!!!”

Additionally, Trump, noted for his involvement in Folarin Balogun’s red card situation, addressed reporters about their golf game. He mentioned, “I think Kane is a great player. I played with him and I really like him. He’s a good golfer too, really great.”

Kane’s ambition is palpable. He aims to guide England to their first semi-final since 2018 and their first final since 1966. Following that, he’ll set his sights on the winner of the match between Norway and Erling Haaland for the upcoming semi-finals.

While discussions on Kane and Haaland will undoubtedly dominate the game’s narrative, Kane is keen to clarify: they are quite different players. “Sure, we’re both strikers, but we play different roles,” he said. He acknowledged Haaland’s remarkable physicality and impressive scoring record, adding, “I see myself differently. I like to get more involved in the play, but I can go full-on as a striker too. I respect him greatly.”
