Harvard Plagiarism Scandal Deepens with Allegations Against Diversity Administrator

Harvard’s plagiarism problem continues, with the Ivy League school’s former president Claudine Gay being fired amid dozens of plagiarism allegations and multiple anti-Semitism scandals. Other teachers are also in the spotlight.

Allegations of plagiarism involving more than 40 sections of her 2008 doctoral dissertation have been filed against Shirley Green, the DEI administrator at Harvard University Extension School, at an Ivy League institution, an intelligence agency reported. report by city journal.

This was announced after disgraced president Claudine Gay resigned earlier this year following numerous plagiarism allegations, which resulted in her having to make seven revisions across two papers. He also completed his Ph.D. paper.

In addition, Sherry Ann Charleston, Harvard University’s chief diversity officer, was also accused of plagiarism in a new complaint alleging that Charleston claimed credit for her husband.

Additionally, top cancer researchers at Harvard University have recently been accused of scientific fraud that affected 37 studies. The researchers are also suspected of manipulating the data images using simple methods such as copy-and-paste and Adobe Photoshop.

As for the recent allegations against Greene, the Title IX Coordinator for the Office of Gender Equality has worked to advance the concept of so-called “diversity, inclusion, and belonging.”

The full text of the complaint was obtained from city journalwhich raises serious questions about Greene’s scholarship and academic integrity.

In one example, Greene excerpted nearly every word, phrase, sentence, and paragraph from scholar Janelle Lee Wu’s 2004 paper, “Chinese American Women’s Identity,” without including proper attribution or citations. It seems like the whole thing is being quoted verbatim.

In Wu’s doctoral dissertation, she writes:

Stage 2 White Identification (WI) is a direct result of increased significant contact between individuals and White society. This stage is accompanied by a feeling of being different and not belonging anywhere. The individual’s self-perception changes from neutral/positive to negative and they begin to internalize the belief systems of white society. Therefore, the person does not question what it means to be Asian American. This person experiences marginalization from other Asian Americans as well as social alienation from their white peers. Only when individuals “seek to gain political understanding; [her] Social status” (Kim 1981: 138) Will she enter the next stage?

On the other hand, Green’s research states:

White identification (WI) is a direct result of increased significant contact between individuals and White society. individuals of this stage have Feeling different from others and not belonging anywhere.their Self-perception changes from neutral/positive to negative and begins to internalize white society’s belief system. As a result, the person is unable to question what it means to be Asian American and experiences social alienation from other Asian Americans as well as being alienated from other Asian Americans. I will do it. their white fellow.to move to next stagethe individual is gain a political understanding of social status;.

Duplicate portions of Woo’s work are italicized, but proper citations are not included.

Greene also reportedly lifted most of the entire table on “Racial/Ethnic Identity Development Models” without citing the source.

Another example in the complaint compares Greene’s paper to a passage from Anthony Antonio’s “Developing Leadership Skills for Diversity.”

A passage from Antonio’s treatise reads:

Astin believes that, regardless of student admission characteristics or the different types of university environments, frequent interracial interactions within universities contribute to increased cultural awareness, efforts toward racial understanding, and efforts to clean up the environment. , and higher levels of academic development (critical thinking). skills, analytical skills, general and specialized knowledge, writing skills) and satisfaction with the university.

On the other hand, a passage from Mr. Green’s paper states:

Astin argues that, regardless of student admission characteristics or different types of university environments, frequent interracial interactions within universities are associated with increased cultural awareness, a commitment to racial/ethnic understanding, and the environment. found that purification efforts were associated with higher levels of academic development. critical thinking skills, analytical skills, general and specialized knowledge, writing skills) and satisfaction with university.

Ms. Green cited the source but did not include the quotation marks. Of note is that the entire paragraph has been copied verbatim, with only the word “ethnic” added.

The complaint reportedly cites more than 30 other instances in which Greene allegedly took the words of other academics. Allegations range from minor violations to what appears to be blatant plagiarism of someone else’s work.
